What to expect

Limpopo is a culturally rich area where history, ancient customs and rituals collide for a fascinating experience. Immerse yourself in the wealth of experiences Limpopo has to offer over the course of two days.

On day one you'll check into Baleni Camp and visit the hot springs of Kamkhulu. After a therapeutic soak you will head to Soutini Village to visit the salt pans. This is where you’ll learn about the 2000-year-old process of collecting salt from the local women. Afterwards, you'll head back to camp for xitsonga cultural performances and a traditional home-cooked meal.

Day two starts with breakfast and a visit to a traditional healer in Giyani. Ma Chavalala, one of the highest-ranking traditional healers in the country will share her knowledge about the art of divination and ancient African healing techniques. Richard Mavunda, a historian and cultural guide, will follow this up with a tour of the area’s ancient trade routes. Alternatively, you can sign up for the energising sounds of the Makomba Ndlela singers and dancers. At lunchtime you will stop off at a roadside restaurant where you will eat as the locals do.
