What to expect

The Richtersveld Community Conservancy is the last refuge for the Nama people and their ways of life, and of rare botanical diversity found nowhere else. This tour package allows visitors to traverse this ancient landscape and experience the lifestyle of the Nama people.

On Day 1 you'll relax and at the Port Indigo beachfront guesthouse, and the next day after breakfast take a tour of Sendelingsdrift via Alexander Bay where you will visit the Orange River and witness it flow into the cold waters of the Benguela current. From 12:00 to 15:30 you will go from Alexander Bay to Cornellskop, stopping along the way at Wondergat. This will give you the chance to learn about the Wondergat, Cornellskop and Quiver trees and the area’s endemic plants like Lithops, Conophytems, and Bushman Candle. During this time you will also see Petroglyphs that date back more than 10,000 years. At 16:00 you will arrive at the Richtersveld National Park at Sendelingsdrift, where you’ll enjoy a braai for dinner at the chalets.

On the third day, head to Kuboes where you will meet with the local Nama people. They will perform cultural dances, tell you their stories, show you their community and share a meal with you. At 13:00 you will head to Port Nolloth bringing your time in this ancient landscape to an end.
